Shame in Healthcare Network & Conversation Series

Event date: Various

Venue: Online

As a project, we have spent a long time thinking about how best to harness the growing interest around shame in healthcare, and we’re excited to announce the formation of the Shame in Healthcare Network. The network is an inclusive, international group of interdisciplinary professionals who are committed to openly acknowledging and addressing the role of shame in healthcare through discussion, collaboration, and scholarship.

On July 9th, the Shame in Healthcare Network held its inaugural quarterly webinar with over 60 participants from across the healthcare landscape. The session opened with a presentation by Will Bynum, MD PhD, titled “Talking About Shame: Why We Should, Why It’s Hard, and How We Can Start.” Will explored the role of shame in healthcare practice and education, highlighting the barriers to open dialogue and practical steps for initiating meaningful conversations.

The Network will host a series of quarterly webinars to explore various aspects of shame in healthcare through expert presentations, and group discussion.

To join the webinarssign up for sessions here. We recommend signing up for a session, even if you’re not sure you can make it, to ensure you receive the Zoom link and invitation. You will receive these within a week of signing up.

To join our email listserv, through which we will publicise ways to engage with the Network. This includes announcements about webinars, events, and opportunities; we do not anticipate a high-volume of emails, and you can opt out at anytime.
