Shame and Medicine’s interdisciplinary and integrative approach moved beyond disciplinary boundaries, and pioneered novel methodologies. The research proceeded through three main disciplinary frames, (1) philosophy, (2) cultural studies and (3) empirical sociology. These disciplinary frames collaborated to synthesise the emerging findings in an on-going iterative process of learning and reflecting on the data, creating an integrated interdisciplinary and holistic analysis.
