Projects

  • The Shame Conversation – The Shame Conversation is a project which aims to help initiate, facilitate and sustain open and honest conversations to bring shame in healthcare and medicine into the light. The Shame Conversation was created by a team of healthcare professionals at the Duke University School of Medicine, led by Dr Will Bynum. The aim is to change the culture of medicine so that there is open engagement with shame and other challenging emotions.
  • Care Under Pressure Project – Care Under Pressure is an interdisciplinary research programme, based at the University of Exeter Medical School, that aims to understand the causes of mental ill-health in doctors, across specialties and career stages, and make informed recommendations to tackle this problem.
  • Working Cultures, Mental Health and Suicide Among Junior Doctors – A mixed method study to identify working conditions and work cultures associated with psychological distress and suicidality among junior doctors working in the NHS.  This research project has been developed in collaboration with junior doctors.
  • The Pandemic and Beyond – A hub for researchers, decision-makers and user groups to understand how COVID-19 in impacting on law, culture, society, health and the arts.

  • Working Cultures, Mental Health and Suicide Among Junior Doctors – a mixed method study at the University of Birmingham, led by Dr Ruth Riley, to identify working conditions and work cultures associated with psychological distress and suicidality among junior doctors working in the NHS. The film presents a personal account from one junior doctor.
